Train aficionados and cavers rejoice! A book on the Mammoth Cave Railroad, the little train that brought eager travelers to Mammoth Cave in days of yore will soon be available. All I have to do is conduct research, write the book, find vintage photos, and get the thing published. But after those trifles are taken care of, it will be a great read.
The remains of the railroad - a dummy engine* and a passenger car - get a lot of attention from Mammoth Cave visitors. Yet the only easily available information on the railroad is on a sign by the train, hence my quest to write a book on it.
* This term is not a reflection on the engine's intellectual capabilities; a dummy is a type of small engine that was often used to pull street cars on city streets.
